Rhoda

Rhoda
Rhoda f
English: from the post-classical Greek name Rhoda, derived either directly from rhodon rose, or else indirectly as an ethnic name meaning ‘woman from Rhodes’, an island which possibly originally got its name from the same word rhodon. In the New Testament Rhoda was a servant in the house of Mary the mother of John, where Peter went after his release from prison by an angel (Acts 12: 13). In the Scottish Highlands Rhoda appears to be used as a feminine form of RODERICK (SEE Roderick).
